Hey! I interviewed our very own Emily, age 11, from Japan! She shared with me her life as a model. Emily has been both Girl of the Week and Girl of the Month. She has also been sending in photo submissions for over a year! I think you will love hearing about her life as a model. She even sent us a video shout out!
Taylor
Taylor: We had a friend that was born in Japan. Like you, he had red hair. Apparently, what we have heard is that it’s good luck to have red or blonde hair. Is that true?
Emily: When we first moved here, my parents told me that people would rub my head for good luck!
Taylor: Do the Japanese like models that are American?
Emily: It depends on the job. Yesterday, I modeled with a girl from Holland, but I’ve also modeled with Portuguese and Chinese people.

Taylor: What did you model yesterday?
Emily: It was for a little company called “Curly Collection.”
Taylor: How did they discover you and how did you start modeling?
Emily: On the navy base, the Japanese have modeling companies. They all come to a school and do a “modeling fair.” They have you line up, take your picture and you write down your hobbies.
Taylor: What is the most fun photo shoot you have ever had?
Emily: I would actually have to pick yesterday! The other model could speak English, so I was able to get to know her.
Taylor: What do you like to model the most?
Emily: I really like the spring and summer collections because I’m in them all the time. When I’m wearing the big wigs it takes a while to put them on, but overall it’s fun.

Taylor: What is your favorite part about being a model?
Emily: I always love when we are done with the photo shoots because I’m able to see myself in a magazine.

Taylor: How many magazines have you been in?
Emily: I’ve sort of lost count, but I think about 12.
Taylor: What do you think you would want to be when you grow up?
Emily: Right now, I’m thinking of taking the road of a model, actress, or broadcaster.

Taylor: Is there anything that made you decide you wanted to do those things?
Emily: The modeling has really helped me so that now I know what it might be like to be an actress or professional model.
Taylor: Tell me a little bit about life in Japan.
Emily: Right now, I live in a really nice part of Japan near the beach.
Taylor: You are going to be seen all around the world through “My Blog” so what would you like to say to girls who are going to be reading this?
Emily: If you set your minds to your dreams and give them a shot, you can do it!
